I hope everyone is doing well these days. We will review the Midwest Toy Soldier show in this post. This is the 2nd part of the review of the show overall; the 1st part was a few days ago (Latest News! ~ 03/26/2026, Midwest Toy Soldier Show, Room Trading Review, LOD Bunker Hill Preview and More.) and it focused on the room trading. In about a week or so, I will finish the review with a 3rd part that will deal with all the items I had picked up.
We will start the review with Jim Clouse & his brother’s tables. They had a nice battle board, I think they were looking at $80 for that. It was a really nice piece.
Steve Connell usually has boxes of painted metal sets, bags of Barzso, Marx or other vintage plastic toy soldiers and playsets with him at good or fair prices.
And as usual, Rick Eber had a bunch of vintage playsets, plastic toy soldiers, and toys. Mainly Marx, but he had other brands too.
Some random pictures from some different tables.
Next, we have Rich Egan’s tables. He usually has a mixture of vintage Marx, Barzso and Conte.
Collector Brian Gerber had a table of different toys that he was selling.
Rob Hornung always has some beautiful hand crafted and painted miniatures & toys. He creates them in different topics that range from Sci-Fi to Ancient civilizations. They are very unique & one of a kind. I think most of them are cast or made out of metal.
More random pictures.
The was one table with custom Lego minifigs.
Dealer Boyd Moore had a bunch of King & Country toy soldiers & products with him.
Morehouse Military Miniatures had some resin castings and a handmade fort. They were scaled for wargaming.
Some more random pictures from a few different tables.
Nate’s Garage always has some interesting toys. He hand crafts and paints them too.
Bill Richardson had some vintage playset for sale at good prices.
Rod & his son Tara Roberts had some vintage toy soldiers & toys for sale.
More random pictures from a couple of tables.
Joe Saine had a bunch of antique toys & miniatures with him. Some rare and hard to find items here. Plus, some newer products.
There was a vendor with some 12 inch military figures with him. I did not get a chance to talk with him about them, but they look nice.
Gary Wendeln had some nice toys for sale. Some were rare. He usually has vintage European & Barzso products with him.
More random pictures from a couple of different tables.
The doors opened early this year because there was a lot of people waiting to get in. Probably around 9:30am or maybe earlier. We were really busy until around 1pm. After that, things died. At this point, I was able to walk around to start taking some pictures of the show and talk to some of the vendors. But it wasn’t too long before the show was over and we started to pack up.
We will end the review of the show with our tables. We had 3 tables again in the right rear corner. I had traded for a foam ruined building with Brian Gerber that I used as a display piece and is now part of my collection. The classic Monsters were really popular and so was the new WWII sets.
The room trading was a lot better for us this year than the show itself. We had fun talking to old friends and meeting new ones. This is one of our favorite shows because it takes place over a few days. And it is a relaxed setting where you can take your time looking through things without feeling your being rushed. It is great if you are a plastic collector, but you can find some really good deals if you are a metal collector too. It is really a treasure hunt, not knowing what you will find. As we will see in the next article I do about the show with all the goodies I had found.
In a few weeks we will be heading to Gettysburg. We will have most of the same products that we had at the Midwest show and maybe something new. The classic Monsters will be in different colors. It should be another great show this year. There will be 100 tables for the show, they are all sold out. Here is a list of the vendors listed below.
