Ken Ciak: I am not sure on the Playsets at this point. They do create a buzz and are worth looking into, but figure sets and allowing the customer to create their own diorama/scene appeals to me more right now. It is a little different, but I am interested in how Austin Miniatures Playset does this weekend.

Thank you all for making this happen. I have wanted to add to my American Revolution and French and Indian War sets with new figures and equipment.
I also missed the opportunity to purchase many of the foam pieces / fortifications before they went ‘out of stock’.
In reference to your ‘greedy eBayer’ comment, I do not sell on eBay, mostly because of my perceived hassles, (I’m showing my age there), associated with the selling process…packaging, shipping, taxes, frees for PayPal, the cut that goes to eBay, and just the tedious nature of dealing with customers…
I recently sold some of my Barzso sets that Were not getting much display time, and, truth be told, were out of my ‘scope of collection’, or not quite up to my expectations overall. ‘Aztecs and Conquistadors’ (human sacrifice and destruction of a native culture)…’Lewis and Clark’ (lovely overall, but massive)…
‘Shores of Tripoli’, (Nice Marines / Strange pirates and dubious/repetitive accessories)…’ LOTM’, ‘Braddock’s Defeat’ (Loved these sets, but space was getting limited and I have the whole John Jenkins tableau).
I sold those sets over the past year at almost exactly what I paid for them, including shipping and handling, to individual collectors, one of whom, turned around and sold 2 of them for 4x the amount (good for him…I think?)🤔🤣😎.
At any rate, I’d love to be able to purchase the foam pieces and some add-on figure sets. Because I still own, and will NEVER part with:
Rogers Rangers
Ranger Camp (super-sized x4)
Rangers on the Lake
British whale boats
Mike Fink
Treasure Island
Battle of New Orleans (super-sized on steroids)
*One favor… Could you possibly make bags of firing lines / marching figures and more non-combatant (in camp) poses, like the Indian Village, Ranger Camp, Von Steuben encampment? Troops eventually had to take time out from shooting and hacking each other up. Also, I would like to have had enough marching figures to represent British forces marching out of camp (before they were slaughtered) for my LOTM set-up, or Braddock’s troops (of all types) moving up to the battle on the Monongahela. I grew up along the river overlooking the battle site, outside of present-day, Pittsburgh, PA.
I’m an avid buyer, and sometimes (often) pay more than I should. But it’s a hobby. I drive a late model Subaru, the house is almost paid for, I don’t booze, smoke or use recreational pharmaceuticals. Got a good wife, kids are grown, on their own and doing well. Enjoying the grandkids. So what else am I going to spend money on?
The plastic figures will allow my grandkids the opportunity to play and have fun with grandpop’s toys, and especially, in my 7-year old granddaughter’s case, not damage my ‘glass ones’, which is how she refers to my metal toy soldiers in the showcases.
Thank you for your time and reading my comment.
Thank you Ken. You sound like me a little. I try not to pay big prices for things, but I am guilty of it. I have about half of the playsets. Most are in storage because of space. When I retied an purchase my next house I will have the room to display. Plus have a separate area for a workshop.
I am collecting feedback for Ken. Thank you for all the information you provide. I will have some polls in a future post. I think this will be this Sunday. Thanks again for stopping by, Mike
