Later this week we will be setting up our tables at the Midwest Toy Soldier Show. The room trading is on Friday March 14th & Saturday March 15th. The show is on Sunday March 16th. We always have a wonderful time. I have found some really good things at this show. Above is the latest list of vendors for the show itself. There will be other collectors that take place with the room trading not listed. Each day is different with new vendors showing up.
Here are some new models of Norman Crossbowmen. I am still working on the color, but it will be a grey-blue color. They will be around 58mm in size. I am working on some archers & footmen right now. After that I will start on some Normans in chainmail and lastly the Horsemen.
I have selected the models for the new Saxon Huscarls set. They also will be around 58mm in size. I am also still working on the color; I am trying to get a burnt orange color. I will have some sets at the Midwest show and then listed on the website later this month. The Saxon Archers & Spearwall set will be updated with some new models. And I am working on a new Saxon Warriors set, a Saxon Noble set and finally a Command set. I should have all Saxon sets ready for the Gettysburg Show in May.
That will wrap it up for this post. I will have a post about the Midwest show next week and then on Interview with Anton Gorichenko soon too. We will be at the Gettysburg show in May.
Well, it has been a while since I posted anything. Between work, the weather and the hobby I have had my hands full.About a month from now is the Midwest Toy Soldier show. We will be back again this year.
The Midwest show is one of our favorite shows to do. For three days we will be buying, selling and trading. The first two days we take part in the room trading. The hotel is like a mall with rooms acting as stores. You get to spend hours walking around shopping. Plus, meeting other collectors and vendors. Each day is a little different, you have different people taking part or new products being available. Last year one vendor had a wholesale sale, and a collector came to sell off a bunch of playsets at great prices.
On Sunday March 16th in the main ballroom is a toy soldier show. You have other dealers that do not take part in the room trading showing up for the show. You never know what you might find at this show.
Here are some new miniatures that Warhansa is making. The first picture is of some Turkish Janissaries. The second picture is of a Gual fighting a Roman Legionnaire.
Here are some of TihonFigureN latest figures. The first picture is of Captain Blood and his crew. The second is of Rambo.
First Legion the famous maker of high-quality painted metal toy soldiers is now making them in rubber resin. Here are some pictures of Napoleonic French Grenadiers. Hopefully we can find some of these products in the USA when the war ends. But for now, you probably could find them on eBay.
Here are a few of the sets I have been working on lately. A few new native American themed sets and some new medieval sets. I have about 15 sets in different stages of development right now. I will have some of these at the Midwest show. Besides the miniatures that I am testing, I keep testing out new resin mixtures.
That is it for now. In my next post I will have an interview we my friend, fellow collector and owner of AMBA Soldiers Anton Gorichenko. We hope to see you at the shows.
Hi everyone, a couple of weeks ago we were at the New Jersey Toy Soldier Show. There were around 70 tables set up. They had some vintage toys, historical items, models and military books besides the toy soldiers.
We will start with Eddie Gries tables. He usually has a bunch of vintage toy soldiers. Both plastic and metal.
Here are some of the books available at the show. Mainly Osprey books.
Matt Murphy of Hobby Bunker was there. He and Joe had a whole row of tables set up with just about everything the toy soldier hobby is made of. I picked up a few Toy Soldier Collector magazines from him.
Here are some random pictures of different tables.
Here are some of the military items available to purchase.
Here are some of the models available at the show. There were more tables set up like this at the show.

Here are my tables set up for the show. We have started putting most of the sets in boxes. I will still have some items in the plastic bags with the header card. We had a nice time talking to collectors and looking around. I saw a few rare items and there were some good deals. We will be back next year.
Here are some of the toy soldiers I picked up. I picked up the W. Britian German Paratrooper for $30.The Airfix Indians was $8, and the lot of vintage plastic figures was $4.
The next Show Eddie has is on December 7th, in Annandale, Virginia. There will be numerous shows next year in New Jersey & Virginia.
That is, it for the show. I will be addingsome items to the website in a day or two. I will have some news in a future post. Thank you for reading.
Last week was the Chicago Toy Soldier Show or now called Chicagoland Toy Soldier Show. Hundreds of rooms were booked in the Chicago Marriott Schaumburghotel. The room trading officially started on Thursday September 19th and continued on Friday & Saturday. The show was on Sunday, September 22nd.I heard that over 400 people attended the show itself.
We were not at the show itself. But I had some friends take some pictures and gathered others from the internet. Jason Evans took some pictures of the room trading.
Austin Miniatures had new Marines and some older sets like the WWII Japanese Infantry. Plus, their wargaming scaled miniatures.
David & Kim Cook of MicShaun’s closet had a bunch of the TSSD plastic toy soldiers, LOD/Barzso products and foam terrain pieces. Plus, a bunch of other things.
Mike Kutnick had a mixture of vintage Marx plastic toy soldiers, Barzso resin figures and this year some of our Warhorse Miniatures.
Here are some pictures of Nate’s Garage custom toys.
Rich Egan has a nice mixture of vintage playsets, Barzso products, Conte Toy Soldiers and vintage Marx toys.
Jason said “This Marx set was from 1964, titled Beach-Head landing. It’s so cool watching them unbox these sets. The sets are donated every year by Craig Remington. Rick Eber always does the actual unboxing itself.”
Collector Jacob Kendall sent me these pictures that he took of the show.
Here are the pictures that Jason Evans took of the show. Mike Kutnick had some of our Warhorse Miniature products with him. I heard that W. Britain had a nice setup.
Rob Hornung had some unique hand-crafted toys for the show. There was nice selection of vintage plastic figures, antique & modern painted metal soldiers and vintage toys. Plus, a great battle display.
Here are some more pictures that I got that Matt Murphy had posted on Facebook. I heard that there was a lot of foot traffic for the room trading and the show was a success. That’s it for the Chicago Show. You can see more pictures of the show at the Treefrog Treasures forum, chicago-show-2024-pictures, We will start attending the show on a regular basis in 2026.
I have been busy working. The testing continues on new products. The British models have been updated. There were some things that were fixed and changed. There will be a bunch of different sets coming out in a couple of months. I will be adding more products to the webstore soon too. Most of the Plains Indian sets have been added.
In about 20 days we will be setup at the New Jersey Toy Soldier show. It is in Wayne, NJ. Hobby Bunker will be at this show too. This will be our last show of the year. We hope to see you there.
We hope everyone is safe, a lot of people have been affected by Hurricane Helene. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.
Last Sunday was the second Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show this year. They started doing this two years ago. The crowd was bigger than last year. We had our best one-day event so far. The first three hours was really busy.
We will start the review with Dr. Christian Keller. He sells antique toy soldiers. You can also see him at the North Gate Antique Mall in Carlisle, Pa.
Steve Connell had his usual mixture of vintage plastic and painted metal toy soldiers for sale at good prices.
Fast Eddie had his usual mix of antique & vintage toy soldiers at great prices.
Rob Hornung had a big selection of his hand crafted & painted metal toy soldiers. He had some really unique sets with him. The big sets were around $900.
Paul Knapp had a bunch of vintage Playsets with him and was displaying a custom “Picketts’ Charge” Playset they he had put together. Some of the 3d printed soldiers were from Warhorse Miniatures. He also had some custom-made terrain pieces that were around $5 to $15 a piece. Here is a video of Paul doing a review of some of my Civil War miniatures.
Eric Kohl was selling military art, books and different types of toy soldiers.
Some random pictures of painted metal toy soldiers.
Todd Nace had some bins of vintage plastic figures to search through and some vintage playsets.
Talking about plastic figures to search through, they were everywhere at this show. Here are some pictures from different vendors.
Here are more random pictures of painted metal toy soldiers.
So far, the trend of the second Gettysburg show is that it is mainly collectors setting up to sell parts of their collections. You can find some rare or hard to find sets at good prices. I picked up the Conte Paratrooper for $70.
More pictures of random plastic items to sort through.
Here are some random pictures of different vendors.
There are a few different dealers that bring a lot of good vintage toys to the show every year.
Another new vendor named Scot was selling his late Father’s collection. He had a lot of Warhammer miniatures with him. They looked like Bretonnia, Empire and High Elves warriors. He will be back next year at the spring show.
Last but not least, were our tables. We had more Warhorse Miniatures products this time. Some vintage plastic toys soldiers too and a couple of foam houses. The latest sets were the Cheyenne, Crow, and Ojibwe Indians. Plus, the Confederate skirmish sets. The mat with the teepees on it is made by, Battle Mat Bazaar.
I took these pictures around noon, as the crowd was starting to thin out. I did not have too much time to run around and take a closer look at the other tables. It was very busy the first few hours. There were some deals to be found and rare items too. The crowd was good, it should continue to grow as more collectors become aware that there will be two shows every year now.
Here are some videos about the show and Warhorse Miniatures. The first video is by Paul Knapp, here is his review of the show.
The second is by Bill Molyneaux. Here is his review of the show. Bill asked me a few questions about my company.
Now that the review is over, we will see what I found for myself. I picked up this Conte WWII US Paratrooper for $70. I was not looking for this item, but I had to buy it when I saw it. A truly amazing piece.
I also picked up these Barzso items at the show from Steve Connell. The Auburn army vehicles I found of a dollar a piece at an antique sidewalk yard sale.
We usually check out antique stores on the way to a show and afterwards too. Here are some paper products we found. The E.T. Paull piece was $18, the Boys of 76 magazines were $5 each and the comics were less than $3 each.
The Chicagoland Toy Soldier show will start officially on Thursday, September 19th, but some collectors will get there earlier. The Show itself is on Sunday, September 22nd 2024. You can learn more about the show by clicking on this link, https://chicagotoysoldiershow.com/. Or visiting the Facebook page over here, https://www.facebook.com/ChicagoToySoldierShow.
We will not be able to attend the Chicago Show until 2026, but we will be attending the New Jersey Toy Soldier show on Sunday, October 20th, 2024. This show is located in Wayne, NJ.
We continue designing new products and changing some of the older sets. Between now and the end of the year I plan on releasing new French Marines, British Infantry, WWII US Paratroopers and some Normans. Plus, more Native American Indians. That’s it for now. Thank you for reading.
I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th of July weekend. I was off this week and started catching up on some things. I still have a lot of old sets to update and new sets in different stages of development.
Last week I added the new Ojibwe tribe set to the store page, Ojibwe Indians Set – 54mm Resin. The set depicts 18th century Ojibwe warriors. Also, part of the set was a Charles Michel de Langlade character figure. He was half French & half native American. He walked between two cultures. He served in the French military as a French Marine officer and also was a Ottawa War Chief.
I started working on a new red resin mixture. I recently have been testing out new resins. One for the flexibility & strength, and others for the color.I like this scarlet red look. You actually can see the details nicely. Red is a hard color to work with. I added the Virginian Regiment in red to depict the Royal American or the British 60th Regiment, British Royal Americans 60th Regiment Set – 54mm Resin.
The Crow tribe set is in development. Just a few tweaks and it will be finished. This is the second set of warriors in the Plains Indian series. I will have most of the Plains Indian sets listed on the store page later this month.
This set is called the “Battle Sets”. It will be added later this month too.
Here is another project in development. These are Bark Teepees. A favorite of the Ojibwe. I am in the process of making some new villagers to go with this.
Lastly in development is the Cheyenne tribe set. This set depicts the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers. They are led by the famous Cheyenne War leader Roman Nose. This set will be available by the end of the month too.All the Plains Indian sets are around 57mm.
We will have all of these new sets at the next Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show which is on August 25th. Plus, much more. I have other things in development. But that is another discussion at a future time.
In remembrance of Memorial Day, we Americans honor all of those who have died in service to the United States during war and peace.
In the beginning of the month, we attended the 81st Annual MFCA Show & Mart. It was over two days. This show is not like the toy soldier shows we attend. The competition is the highlight of this event. The mart is just part of it. The cost of the show was $20 for both days. It is more expensive than toy soldier shows. It includes the competition too. You will find a lot of unpainted metal & resin figures. Some painted metal toy soldiers and a few plastic toys soldiers. But you can find some nice items. That being said let us begin the review.
Aaron Elson was at the show again selling military related books about WWII veterans, including his Father. The stories they had to tell about their experiences from the war.
Digital Realms Models and Toys was selling vintage toys, model kits and books.
Eugene Hanin of DVH Design or Tin Toy Soldiers, was at the show this year. He had a bunch of metal casted miniatures from Russia. The details were really sharp and at a good price.
Foggy Bottom Miniatures had casted metal miniatures from brands like Sanderson, Monarch, Rose and other brands. He is getting more Sanderson molds and from other brands. The castings are really nice.
Next, we have Hobby Bunker. Matt had his mobile store with him again. There were vintage plastic toy soldier sets, new plastic & painted metal toy soldier and everything else the hobby offers.
Military Matters was there with a bunch of military reference books.
George from Minutemen Toy Soldiers had painted medal toy soldiers from all the major brands.
Northern Warden Gaming had a bunch of plastic bits so you could build custom miniatures.
Dr. Christian Keller of Old Toy Soldiers had a bunch of antique toys and toy soldiers.
Here are some pictures of random vendors.
The Patriot of Lake George store had some nice military weapons and items. Plus, some nice toy soldiers too. You can see more at their website over here, http://www.patriotoflakegeorge.com/.
W. Britain was present too. They had some of the latest products and previews of what was to come. I took the opportunity to rejoin the Collector’s club. They are my favorite brand of painted metal toy soldiers.
We did well at this show. Warhorse Miniatures is a medium between a toy soldier and a military miniature. We try to be historically accurate but have some characteristics of a toy soldier like the bigger heads and hands. We had our latest products from the Plains Indian theme and French & Indian War theme.
I was only able to take a few pictures of the competition.
Our friend Steve Pyle won a few more awards again this year. Congratulations Steve!!
The Artist Keith Rocco was here also. He had some of his work available.
We added some new products to the web store this week and have acquired some of the Butternut & Blue Civil War products recently too. You can check out all the products available right now over here, Warhorse Miniatures Store page.
We wrap up another post. Over the next few months, we will be releasing new products and some of the older sets will get updated or re-run into production again. We are starting to use a new resin mixture that is stronger, more flexible and looks better too. The best part is the price has stayed the samefor our products.
See you in August at Gettysburg. Thank you for reading.
The day started at 3:30am. We were on the road around 4:20am. Around 7:30am we started setting up our tables for the Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show.
Around 9:30am the tables were set up and I was able to walk around to take some pictures. Here are a few before the show started. I was busy for most of the show and was able to take some more pictures again around 2pm.
While we were setting up, I would take a look at some of the tables near to me. To the right of us was Nate’s Garage, to the left was McShaun’s Closet. And across from us was Fast Eddie and a vendor selling Britians Deetail Toy Soldiers.
One of the Vendors near Steve Connell was selling a Conte Saxon Medieval Cog. This is the second year in a row someone was selling this ship. I purchased one last year. The seller was asking $750.
Rick Eber had a bunch of the vintage plastic toy soldiers and playsets again.
Eddie Gries had with him his usually mixture of Osprey military reference books, vintage painted metal toy soldiers, new painted metal toy soldiers, and vintage plastic toy soldiers.
TheGettysburg Miniature Soldiers Store, was setup with some W. Britians toy soldiers and plastic tanks. If you spend some time in Gettysburg you have to visit their store.
Matt from Hobby Bunker was present with his usual selection of everything the hobby has to offer.
Rob Hornung had his hand crafted & painted miniatures with him. Some really unique themes. I like the color schemes and selection of the poses he picks.
Some pictures of random vendors.
Eric Kohl had some artwork, old reference magazines and modern & old painted metal toy soldiers.
David & Kim Cook of MicShaun’s Closet had a bunch of foam buildings, terrain pieces, castles & forts and a lot of the TSSD plastic toy soldiers with them.
Frank had some models and figurines that he had painted for sale.
Here are more random dealers from the show.
Nate’s Garage was right next to me, so I was able to take a lot of pictures of his incredible products. Most of his items are hand crafted or repurposed. He paints everything too.
Here are two pictures of a storage bin that was picked through, throughout the show.
Here were some unique action figures that I never saw before…
Steve Pyle had with him a bunch of his hand painted dioramas. He will convert most of his toy soldiers to make new poses. He also hand crafts most of his props used in the displays. He will be at the MFCA Show on May 3rd & 4th. We will be there too.
Steve also had some of my Warhorse Miniatures painted and displayed.
Here are some random pictures of plastic toy soldiers. You usually can find some vendors that have storage bins to search through. They are usually priced cheap.
Here are some more pictures of random vendors.
Rick Lipp had a nice Navarone set and vintage Marx toy soldiers.
Here are some pictures of vintage playsets.
Jack Eagan had a bunch of painted metal toy soldiers. Some were loose and there were others with the original boxes. He was selling some for $30 or I think it was $25 each if purchased 4 figures.
Lastly, we have a few pictures of our table. Here are some of the latest products we are producing. For the French & Indian War era series, the new sets were the Native Mothers and Gatherers, Huron Indians and 1755 Virginia Regiment in blue. We also did them in red to depict the British 60th Regiment or Royal Americans and in brown for a colonial militia. For the Plains Indian series, we had 5 different types of Teepees, Sioux Indian Warriors and some woman villagers.
All in all, it was a good show. It was well attended, and collectors were buying. We noticed a lot of new people and the crowd was made up of all ages. One collector said he had been collecting for about 30 years and this was the first time he came to a show.
This coming Friday, May 3rd & Saturday, May 4th we will be in Trevose, PA outside of Philadelphia for the MFCA Show. For more information click over here, https://www.mfcaclub.com/2024-show.

There are vintage plastic playsets, plastic toy soldiers both old & new from all over the world. Plus, resin miniatures and unique collectibles. Besides the toys you will find historical related items and books.
Here are some of the new products that I will have available at the show this week. I have some new British French & Indian War sets. The Virginian Provincial Regiment in Blue, 60th Regiment (Royal Americans) in Red and Colonial State Militia in Brown. I was thinking of making them in Green in the future so they could represent Pennsylvania Provincials. There are some new poses to go with the Confederate Marchers, there are 3 wounded poses now. I have other French & Indian War sets of Canadians and Woodland Indians. Plus, all the new Plains Indian sets.
It should be another great show. There will be vendors like Hobby Bunker and then small-time venders selling items from their collections. You never know what you will find. We hope to see you on Sunday. Thank you for reading, that is it for now.
Here is the part two of the review for the Midwest Toy Soldier Show. The show started off slow, but it picked up about an hour after the doors opened. We met a lot of new collectors. I wish I was able to take more pictures. But I did not have the time.
We start with Bill Richardson’s table. He had some nice Auburn Army men and a lot of vintage vehicles.

We end the show with my tables. I had a small display of the Plains Indians and Woodland Indians. I almost forgot to take pictures of my tables. I took a few as we were packing up. That is it with the review. We had a great time and will be back next year. The numbers were down some, but many vendors did really good in sales. I will now show some of the other stuff I found at the show.
Here is a lot of toy soldiers that I got from John Anderson too. In a small box was mainly Accurate Colonial toy soldiers in different shades of blue. Around 75 of them. There we some other figures like the Marx figures. Plus, some plastic women figures with what looks like a fire in one hand. I never have seen this model before. I would like to find out more about them. This lot of figures cost me $10.
Also in the lot of Accurate colonial soldiers was this plastic Britians British Artillery figures. Plus the small cannon.I set them up with one of my metal cannons. I have the same set as the picture of them painted. But never knew you could find them unpainted.
