Today was the Midwest Toy Soldier Show. They also had room trading on Friday & Saturday. I was unable to make it. I will return next year again. From what I have heard it was still a great show but attendance was less as expected.

I had hoped to be at the Midwest Toy Soldier Show but due to all the madness I was unable to attend. Last week I was able to get out and found a few vintage toy soldiers and other toys.

I found these two Tim Mee Army trucks at different places. The “Battle” damaged truck was $5.00 and the other one in better condition was $7.00. I remember having some of these as a kid.

Here is another figure that my girlfriend Carolyn found. This Marx British Red Coat cost me $1.00. I never had any. It is really well detailed and fits well with the Barzso figures. I am not a big Marx collector. I only have a few of the World War II figure sets. Plus some western figures that I have picked up here and there. The Marx Toy company was almost gone when I was was growing up. I was lucky enough to have the Navarone Playset as a kid. I will try to get a few more of these British if I come across them at the shows.

Interview with Ivan Kostenko from ЧЕЛОВЕЧЕК or “Little Man”, Plus Review of the Ancient Aryans & The 2019 East Coast Toy Soldier Show.

Earlier this year I read on Stad’s Stuff about the Russian company called ЧЕЛОВЕЧЕК or “Little Man”. They released a limited edition set of Tlingit Natives. In September they released two more sets of figures. This time the subject of the miniatures was Ancient Aryans. The figures are historical based. They are 1/32 in scale and cast in a hard type of rubbery resin.

I had ordered the two sets of the Ancient Aryans. I have been communicating with the owner of “Little Man” recently about his products and then setup an interview with him.

Warhorse Miniatures: Hi Ivan. Thank you for taking your time to answer some questions. Here is my first question. Can you tell the readers something about yourself and your Company Little Man?

Ivan: My name is Ivan. I am 30 years old. Since childhood I really love soldiers and enjoy history and ethnography. I really like to study the life of various tribes of the planet. A year ago, I took the first step towards creating a workshop “Little Man”. The goal of my project is through the contemplation of “Little Men”, through the game, to convey as much as possible the originality and colorfulness of historical cultures and ethnic groups born in the process of forming a single human race. In my project, I acted as the creator of the idea, historian and sculptor. It is very important for me to create exotic tribes that are little known to the world, in order to encourage people to study the history of the planet and take a wider look at humanity. I also focus on creating figures of ordinary residents, artisans.

Warhorse Miniatures: The first set that Man released was Tlingit Natives. Why did you start here?

Ivan: The Tlingits were my first set because their culture shocked me when I visited the Museum of Ethnography in St. Petersburg. It houses the richest collection of their artifacts. These are the most dissimilar Indians to those that we are used to seeing in pop culture. In addition, the history of the Tlingit people is closely related to the history of the colonization of the Russian Empire by Alaska.

Warhorse Miniatures: I recently received the Ancient Aryans sets that I purchased. I am really impressed with the amount of details, subject matter and the choice of poses. Can you tell us about these sets?

Ivan: The second set I dedicated to the tribes of central Eurasia – the ancient Aryans. In Russia there is an unusual archaeological monument called Arkaim. It is also called “Russian Stonehenge”. This is a fortified settlement which was built by the Aryans 4 thousand years ago. I was very inspired by this layer of history and for six months I studied all the possible information in order to maximally convey the real face of this people. I was a pioneer in the reconstruction of men’s suits and I had to consult and approve sketches from leading archaeologists in this area. In my sets I depicted the first chariot in the history of mankind, the first wild horses (tarpans) used for riding, the ancient breed of shepherd dogs (tobet), the early cults of fire worshipers. The ancient Aryans made a great contribution to the history of ancient Persia, India and the Scythian world.

Warhorse Miniatures: What are you plans for the future?

Ivan: In the future, I will pay attention to each continent in turn and not focus on one topic. The tribes will be different, ranging from the Stone Age to the century of great geographical discoveries. The next set will be dedicated to the people of Asia, but more specific information will remain secret until the release of the set.

Ivan: Thanks for the rating. With the second set of Aryans, I personally began to master the art of casting.

Ivan: I pour on pre-order. From the moment of ordering, the kit is sent in about two weeks to its customer. First I accept the pre-order, after about two weeks I inform you about the readiness of the set and we agree on the purchase.

Warhorse Miniatures: Also are there plans to recast the Tlingit Natives again?

Ivan: The Tlingit – War set will be reissued, but so far I can’t say when. A set of Tlingit-Potlach will also be created, in which all the figures will be dedicated to the peaceful life of the tribe (fishermen, woodcarvers, dancers, etc.).

Warhorse Miniatures: Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers?

Ivan: I recommend that all readers study the history of our humanity, because by studying history we become more tolerant of each other. After all, we all have one roots and one future in the universe.

I was really surprised with the amount of detail that these miniatures have. Plus the mixture of craftsmen and warriors. The subject is unique. I also like the poses selected too. These are more like a collectible than toy soldiers because of the price and limited amount of sets being cast. The scale of these figures is advertised as 1/32 scale, but they really are 1/30 in scale.

Latest News!! 09/15/2019 ~ Chicago Toy Solider Show, Pre-Show Information & New Publius & MAN sets!!!

It is less than a week now until the Chicago Toy Show begins. Next Sunday is the official show. But collectors will be arriving on Wednesday. I call it “Reno’s Last Chance.”

The base is a new piece that I am bringing to the show. We call it Montana Bluffs. I have also done a covered wagon with accessories.

It is not a playset. The scenic piece comes in two pieces that form a 36 x 24 x 4.5 diorama piece. It comes completely painted and flocked and sells for $235.00.

The Wagon sells for $42.00 and comes with the cover and a removable insert (crates and sacks)

The barriers sell for $12.00 a piece.

The Lunette. The Lunette goes in front of the Main Entry Gate Building #TS222. It will be painted in earth tones similar to what you find in Mark’s Lemon’s Book – The Illustrated Alamo 1836.

We will also be carrying many more Expeditionary Force figure sets, Chin Toys/Engineer Basevich. We will definitely have the Ex Force sets in Chicago and hope to have the Chin Toys/Engineer Basevich as well.

We have received a large restock of the Atherton Scenics diorama pieces.

New stock of our TSSD Foam pieces and have arrived and we expect more over the next week.

We will be bringing many of these pieces with us to Chicago.

Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show 2019 Review

The 12th Annual Gettysburg ended this year with the lights on. There was a good crowd at the show. They came in at a steady rate throughout the show. This year was the first year that I attended as a vendor. It was a fun experience.

I got up at 5:00am. Me and my girlfriend had arrived the day before and stayed at the Eisenhower Hotel. That was where the show was being held. I unpacked and put the bagged figures that I had in different boxes on the table. After that I took out the Prikaz & Austin figures to display.

It was interesting to watch the other vendors set up their tables. They put together shelves and huge displays. Gary of the Army Group Center even wheeled his shelves in already filled with boxed sets of toy soldiers.

The first vendor I saw was me…. I had a mixture of mainly vintage figures and some recasts. I really didn’t sell too much.

The main reason I went was to promote the Moscow based company Prikaz. I had 4 of the medieval based sets displayed. I had some of the sets in plastic display cases and others displayed with some Conte figures. The collectors that stopped to check them out where impressed with the amount of detail. They liked the unique poses.

They also liked the Austin WW II Japanese prototypes that I had on display. A lot of collectors can’t wait until September to buy some bagged sets of Japanese Infantry. Me too.

One of the promoters of the show is John Stengel Jr. He came through the back door to avoid the press. He had most of the tables towards the back of the show. I was right next to him. His tables had bins filled with plastic figures. They were either in plastic bags or loose. Most were vintage, but some where new bagged sets. He also had some playsets. Every show he digs out boxes of old vintage plastic figures. You never know what he will have. He hopes to have 100 to 150 sets of the his new World War II German Paratroopers ready to sell at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show later this year. After some setbacks he hopes to have a few sets produced next year.

George Guerriero of Minutemen Toy Soldiers always has the best displays of painted toy soldiers for sale. He brings a huge selection from different companies. I collect mainly plastic or resin figures. Most of the metal figures that I have I purchased from George.

Hand Held Warriors was at the show with their beautifully painted metal miniatures.

Army Group Center Wargaming was at the show again with hordes of plastic figures in boxed sets, plastic bags filled with figures and loose figures in plastic bins to search through.

Calvin is one of the Toy Soldier Show vendors that I have mentioned in the past. He always has a nice selection of vintage and hard to find toys.

Stephen Connell was present at this show again too. He had a nice selection of painted metal figures at very good prices.

Rick Eber of http://www.marxplaysets.com/ always has a great selection of vintage Marx playsets and figures. Plus vintage figures from other brands.

Frank Wakely had a nice selection of vintage toys for sale. He is one of these collectors selling off his collection.

Another dealer of painted metal figures was Al Green of Green’s Collectibles. He also had a nice selection of metal figures.

For the Historian is a local Gettysburg store that sells books & miniatures.

One of the nice things about the Gettysburg show is the great selection of both plastic & metal figures. Both new and old. Vendor after vendor had quality products. Each one had something different to offer. Each year is always different when you come. This year was great if you were looking for tanks. There were two vendors that had huge selection of tanks at very good prices.

There was one collector that was selling off a huge selection of tanks and Conte sets. He was selling loose tanks starting at $25.00. Boxed tanks starting at $45.00. He was asking $600 the Conte sets. He said he will go to a few more shows and then eventually sell whatever is left on eBay from his daughter’s account. I think he will be at the East Coast Toy Soldier show if he still has a lot of things to sell.

Tom Dubel was selling some painted metal figures too. He also had a nice selection to choose from.

Joe Wallis knows a lot about lead toy soldiers, hey he wrote the book… He is very knowledgeable about old toy soldiers and had a nice selection of them for sale.

Fred Sassin had a nice selection of vintage toys for sale too. Both metal and plastic.

Gerardo of Toy Soldier Depot had a nice selection of tanks and other military vehicles. He also had some playsets and some bins with loose Conte figures for sale.

That is all I have to show about the show itself. I had a good time talking to fellow collectors about the Prikaz Toy Soldiers, the Austin prototypes and some future projects that I am working on. I am slowing down on with collecting things for now and want to focus on customizing, painting and creating original things. Here are some of the items that I did pick up at the show.

I got these W. Britain and Conte figures from Stephen Connell. He was asking $20.00 a piece for them.

Here are some Replicant Saxons that I picked up from John Stengel Jr. I like how the base of the figures match up so you can “lock” them in place to form a shield wall. I got these for S4.00 a piece. I got a few more Saxons too.

I got these Conte Spartans from the Toy Soldier Depot for $2.50 a piece.

Here are some other items that I picked up at the show for good prices. I got some Barzso foam pieces, an Engineer Basevich Nomads set, a few loose Conte GI’s, an Auburn Horse and an Imex American Revolution Artillery set.

The Midwest Toy Soldier Show 2019 Review Part 2 ~ The Show

After spending two days going to the different hotel rooms for the room trading I was exhausted. If you didn’t read about that you can read it now with the first part of the review over here The Midwest Toy Soldier Show 2019 Review Part 1 ~ Room Trading.

I went to sleep around 11pm. I got up early around 6am. At 7am I went to the showroom and helped John Stengel Jr carry all his boxes in to setup for the show. It was an interesting event in itself. Seeing all the vendors setup their tables and put together their displays. The vendor list is over at the Midwest Toy Soldier website http://www.mwtoysoldier.com/.

With my camera in hand and a bunch of Prikaz Medieval sets in an old Army gasbag that I had at my side I then walked around the showroom talking to the vendors. I passed out business card for my website and show off the Prikaz figures. I also took a few pictures.

Stephen Connell is one of the promoters of the show. He had a bunch of vintage painted metal sets and some 6 inch Marx figures. He also had a nice Conte Battering Ram set. I forgot to go back to look at that. Later on after the show I asked Stephen how the attendee was this year. He said “Hello Mike….record crowd…the most people we have had in the four years we have had the show…and more than the previous five shows held at Indianapolis…great turnout!!! Thanks.” That is really good news for the hobby.

Talking about Conte, there was a Conte Roman Galley for sale at the show. I heard they were asking $1,500!!! It was nice. But out of my price range.

Even though most of the show was plastic toy soldiers there were some painted metal sets too. W. Britain was represented by Ted Deddens. Besides the W. Britain figures Ted also had some other older painted ones.

Ed Borris was at the show too. He and Mike sell new and old plastic figures. Ed had a couple of exclusive sets. One that he’s still selling are the Barzso Indians in camp set that is cast in metal. This is one of the few figure sets that Ron Barzso had done in metal. Ed also has some Alamo Mexicans cast from original Barzso sculpts. You should try to pick up these sets before they are sold out. You can also get one of the Ron Barzso or Ed Borris figures too.

Rich Egan had a bunch of vintage plastic figures for sale. He also had some Barzso and Conte figures. Plus some playsets.

Cal Luckett had a bunch of vintage plastic too.

Rick Berry was at the show also. He had a mixture of vintage plastic figures, playsets, new boxed & bagged plastic sets. Volk Designs had their one of a kind hand made Medieval and French & Indian War related buildings and other accessories displayed. You can only find him at the shows.

Gary Wendeln had a bunch of Airfix boxed and bagged figure sets. He also had some display pieces and playsets.

John Stengel Jr surfaced again with a bunch of vintage plastic & new plastic sets available. He had a bunch of tables full of plastic boxes full of plastic figures. There were some playsets, tin buildings also. He usually has some rare Marx sets, Barzso figures and Conte figures too. John only sells at the toy soldier shows. You never know what he will have. Sometimes he has some limited run figure sets that he produces. He has had a few setbacks but should have WWII German Paratroops this September at the Chicago show. Towards the end of the show a black suburban with tinted windows scooped him away not to be seen again….

Ron Barzso had some exclusive “Last of the Mohicans” character figures for sale at the show. I think that he had about 10 of these sets with him. Maybe less. I did purchase one set at the end of the show.

Ron brought with him a bunch of loose figures that he was selling for $3.00 a piece. He also had some bagged figure sets. I think most were for sale at $25.00 a bag. There were also a lot of character figures. I had 4 sets of the Prikaz Medieval sets with me. I showed them to Ron and he liked them very much.

Towards the end of the show Ed Borris got upset and flipped over his table and attacked some of the vendors. I was able to take a picture…..

After the show me and my girlfriend went to an antique mall in Lafayette, Indiana. I found this Re-Marx Fort Apache Playset in mint condition for S20.00. I also got some Star Wars figures for $4.00 each.

Well that is it for the review. I had a blast and found a few things that I wanted. I pretty much have everything I need now for my Barzso collection. Just a few pieces more now, like some more French figures. Next year I will take part with the room trading. I am starting to down size my collection. I also might have a table for the show too. I plan to get there a little earlier and stay in the same hotel as the show. Plus leave a day after the show so I can get more rest spend more time there. There were plenty of other quality vendors. I am sorry if I missed you in the review.

The Midwest Toy Soldier Show 2019 Review Part 1 ~ Room Trading

I just got back home yesterday from the Midwest Toy Solider Show. If you are serous plastic collector this was the show not to miss. There were tons of plastic there. I had a blast. This was the first time I did any room trading and it was a great experience.

Me and my girlfriend left our house in Pennsylvania early Friday. About 12 hours later we got to Lafayette, Indiana. The first night we stayed in a different hotel than the one that the show was at. After we ate, I ran over to the Courtyard by Marriott to do some room trading. It was around 8pm.

Room List

They had a room list display with the different vendors. I looked around to see who was still up. The first room I went to was of Ed Borris. We had a good talk and exchanged gifts.

I didn’t bring my camera the first day. I just wanted to talk and see what toys I could find. I visited a few rooms and talked to some of the different vendors. I bumped in Stephen Connell, Rick Keller, Cal Luckett, David & Kim Cook and others.

The next day I got up early and headed to the hotel around 9am. I saw Ed again and then went to Todd Nace’s room. I met Todd last year and we talked a bit. I picked up a few vintage Marx figures from him.

Todd was selling manly vintage items. He had some sets and loose figures available. I am not a big Marx collector but I like to pick up some of the loose figures here and there.

The next place I went to was of Volk’s Designs. Mike Luteran makes some excellent products. They are fantastic. One of a kind. These items look great with 1/32 & 1/30 scaled figures.

The next room I went to was of Rich Egan. After we had talked for a little bit I purchased a couple of things. I also bumped into a fellow collector Eddie White. It was nice to meet some of my fellow collectors.

I picked up a Barzso’s “Braddock’s Defeat” playset and about 45 Barzso Redcoats. I paid a fair price for the playset. It had a few figures missing. But Rich added another wagon and cannon. He gave me a good deal on the Redcoats. The playset was on my wishlist and it made the trip worth it for me. Besides the Barzso items, Rich had plenty of Conte figures and some sets. He also had a nice selection of vintage Marx figures and other toys. He is a wonderful person to deal with. Send him a message, he might have what you are looking for.

After I got the items from Rich Egan, I left the hotel to check out of the other one and then took my girlfriend shopping a little bit. We were able to check in the Courtyard by Marriott. I then started the room trading again. It was around 1pm. I met up with Don Perkins and gave him gift that I had for him. We talked a bit about how he was doing. Then he filled me in about room trading and on the show.

After I left Don. I went to see David & Kim Cook of MicShaun’s closet. They are the new owners of Toy Soldiers of San Diego. I had a great time talking to them and so did my girlfriend. We busted each others chops and had a bunch of laughs. They came to the show to mainly introduced themselves to the collectors.

They also did some room trading. They had a bunch of foam pieces and bagged sets.

The next room I visited was of Rick Eber. As usual had a horde of vintage plastic figures and playsets. The pictures about speak volumes.

Rod & Tera Roberts

I think the last place I went before we headed out to eat was the room of Rod Roberts and his son Tera Roberts. We talked for a bit and I picked up a Ultimate Soldier set from them. They only sell at the shows.

The Roberts had some good deals with painted plastic figures and some old new stock sets of Ultimate Soldier.

By the end of the day I was exhausted. I ran around to different places and rooms. I did make some rookie mistakes. I missed a bunch of rooms because I didn’t realize that there was another section to the hotel. What I should have done was written down all the room numbers from the list and then crossed them out after I had visited that room. Also I could have written some foot notes of items that I was interested in. I do apologize to all the people that I did miss.

I also bumped into John Stengel Jr a few times through out the day. After busting his chops we talked a bit about how things were going and some hobby related issues. After a few setbacks with the production of his sets he says that he should have his World War II German Paratroopers available ready for the Chicago Toy Soldier Show in September.

I can’t wait until next year for the room trading and the show. I will be better prepared.

Today we head back to Russia for a review of the newest set by Prikav. Most of the sets he sells are between $30 to $38 dollars. There is a conversion fee also. I have ordered a bunch of sets from him the past month. Send him a message and he will get back to you.

Now back to the review. The name of this set is “Squad”or Slavic Noble Warriors. These are professional veteran warriors. This set includes 4 figures. One is mounted. One of the warriors is female. I am very pleased to own this set. I purchased two of them. One of the sets I will paint. The size of these figures are about 1/32 in scale.

Here is the first warrior. It looks like he is wearing Lamellar armour of leather over some chain mail. He swinging a sword and holds a Kite shield.

The second figure is wearing chain mail. He holding a round shield and is about to thrust a sword forward. Both the first and second figure can be used in a shield wall formation.

The third figure is the Female warrior. She is rushing forward banishing a sword and axe. She is protected by chain mail.

The last figure is of a Mounted Warrior. I would say he is the leader of this small warband. He is wearing an ornate helmet and protected Lamellar leather armor over chain mail. He has a sword and a Kite shield. He looks like he is charging forward into battle.

Here are some pictures of the rider by himself. These figure is nicely sculpted.

The horse is beautifully detailed. I like the pose. The action of the horse pulling his head and the direction of his tail. The figure fits really nicely on top of the horse. No tilting over.

Now we head over to some news. If for some reason you have not heard about the Midwest Toy Soldier show it is about 2 weeks away.

Last year was the first time that I went. I made the trip into a mini vacation. It was a great show. I am glad that I made the trip. They had a ton of Barzso figures. They also had a ton of BARZSO figures. Did I say that Ron Barzso was attending this show, lol.

Toys

This show has a lot of quality dealers. From Ron Barzso to John Stengel Jr. There is a lot of plastic and there is also metal figures. The show is a nice size. You are able to take your time and browse the tables with out the feeling that you have to rush because there is a crowd pushing you through. I had a lot of fun just talking to collectors and dealers.

Conte

The show is on Sunday April 7th. On Friday April 5th & Saturday April 6th they have room trading in the hotel that the show is at. I never did any room trading. But this year I will. ATTENTION PLASTIC COLLECTORS

At long last, some plastic news. Plastic Romans are becoming a reality. These are photos (received today) of the first Roman figure prototype rendered at the factory.
We are very pleased that minimal changes of our original sculpt have been made—meaning that our vision of how we want our Romans to look can be realized in plastic.
We had worried that the ‘cheek guards’ on the helmet might have been compromised/changed due to molding issues or that the weight of the shield might be a problem but things are looking good.
Work at the factory is proceeding on a marching figure, an archer, a massed formation figure and 8 attacking poses. (that’s 12 if you are counting ).
The factory has in their hands an additional 4 poses which have not entered the mold making process yet.
4 Casualty poses & 4 additional fighting sculpts are being finalized here in the USA. We plan to send these to the factory as soon as they are finished.
The Barbarian Horde is also being readied; as soon as we know ‘things are good’ with the first 8 or so Romans, we will be sending Barbarians….

If you guys support the range, we also have catapults, ballista, siege tower and battering ram sculpted and ready ….Thanks as always for your patience and support for our Labor of Love.

Last Sunday I went to the 36th Annual East Coast Toy Soldier Show. Bill Lango had passed away earlier this year. He had been the promoter of the show for 35 years. The show seemed to be busy. A few times I thought I saw Bill, it was weird not seeing him there. There were rumors that this could be the last show, at least at the current location. We shall see what happens next year.

I got to the show early and was one of the first one in line to get in. This year the sky was clear and that cold. I talked to a few fellow collectors about different hobby related things for about 50 minutes while we wait for the show to start. When they opened the door there were about a 100 people behind me. I stayed for about 5 hours. One of my co-workers attended the show too. After I ran around and took care of my business, I helped him with a few things. Most of the things I found were vintage plastic western toy soldiers. At the end of the review of the show I will show some of the things that I did find.

I would say that this year the show was about 85% toy soldiers related. The other dealers had some vintage toys, history related items, books or movies, Hess trucks and some art work. There was a mixture of plastic toy soldiers and painted metal toy soldiers. When I walked in I first saw Treefrog Treasures Military Miniatures.

Next I saw Mike Russo. He had some Barzso sets at the current prices that you will see on eBay. I didn’t get any of these even though I was tempted. He also had some other vintage toys and many painted metal sets.

When I get to these shows I usually walk around quickly and scan the tables. If I see something that interests me or something that I am looking for I will stop. After I do my walk thru I start again and see if I missed something. Here a few random pictures below. There were a bunch of boxes to go through that had either plastic or painted metal figures.

Another dealer that I saw was George’s Toy Chest. He had some vintage painted metal and plastic figures.

Next I saw Scott Schleh’s table. He had some nice painted figures and custom display pieces. Scott does not have a website but he can be reached by email. Some of his pieces are amazing. This is what is great about going to the shows. There are small dealers or collectors that just sell their products at the shows. You can see some great things first hand.

Next I saw Crown Military Miniatures. They sell mainly painted metal figures.

Arley L. Pett Antiques was another dealer of old painted metal figures.

Doug Dearth was at the show with his amazing artwork. He also does commissions. You can see more at his website DearthCo.

Francis Turner who used to run the Marx Museum was at the show too. He had loose figures, bagged sets of figures and boxed playsets.

There was Hess Truck Collectors table again with plenty of Hess trucks and information.

Some of the vendors were at different locations from past shows. I think there were less vendors too. Here are some more pictures of various tables.

Rick Eber of Marx Playsets was at the show also. As usual he had plenty of Marx Playsets and figures. He even had some Marx figures in original bags. It is amazing how he finds all of these sets and figures in excellent condition.

Next I met Steven & Shelby from the Armchair Emperor. They offer a painting service for toy soldiers and 28mm Warhammer figures. They also are developing a war game for historical 54mm miniatures. They were real friendly. Check out the website for more information.

John Stengel Jr the Marx-Man was at the show too. He had plenty of plastic toy soldiers. I got a few Barzso figures and some other things. If everything goes right he will have his World War II German Paratroops next spring. He said he should also have the marching American Civil War figures too. John produces figures because of the passion he has for the hobby. He has many other responsibilities and life tends to get in the way with many of his projects. His figures are a limited run production and you will have to find him at one of the shows he attends if your interested in his work.

Paul Stadinger of Stad’s Stuff was at the show too. It’s always nice to see him. We talked about the show and other hobby related topics.

Paul and his wife Laurie were at Gerry Watts table. Gerry had a bunch of vintage plastic figures. I spent some time digging through a few different boxes. He had different prices on his boxes. Some where $2 a figure, $5 a figure or $10 a figure. Gerry does not have a website but sells at the shows.

I saw George Guerriero of Minuteman Toy Soldiers. George always has great displays of the different painted metal figures that he sells. I don’t buy many painted metal figures but when I do it is from George.

The next table I saw was some of the Russian painted Military Miniatures. These are amazing and the price reflects that. For more information check out Aero Art International.

Another dealer named Josh had a bunch of vintage plastic figures and toys. He had boxes of figures at different prices also.

Philip of Lord Tankervilles Knights was selling some Medieval themed toys. He had some castles, figures and books for sale.

The last dealer that I went to was Hobby Bunker. They always bring both vintage and current products. Both plastic and painted metal sets.

I saw a Barzso Conquistador playset that was going for $1,200. That was way too much for me and I think anyone else at the show. I forgot to take a picture of that but I took a few pictures of some other vintage playsets. There was a Barzso Lexington Green playset for $450 which I would have purchased if I didn’t have it already.

I was not really looking for anything in particular except for some Airfix Paratroops that were recasted from the last batch they made. Here are a few Armymen that I did get. I picked up most of these for a dollar or two. There was a 60mm Auburn Soldier, a Conte painted American Paratrooper, 45mm Marx Marine, 3 60mm Marx Academy Cadets and a 60mm Timmee Soldier.

I picked up a big bag of mainly BMC Plains Indians from the Battle of Little Big Horn set for $20. There were some recast Marx Indians too. Even through the figures are not the best sculpted, I like them. Most of the figures are about the same scale as Airfix Plain Indians.

Here are some of the vintage Marx figures that I found at Gerry Watts table for $2.00 each.

I picked up a few Barzso figures, some accessories and some split rail fences from the Marxman. Some were Pirates. One was of Robert Rogers.

I found some Crescent Cowboys & Indians at Gerry Watts table. They were also $2.00 each. The last Cowboy is made by Jean Hoefler of Germany.

Here are some 45mm Marx Indians that I got for about $10.00. These figures have a certain charm. I have a few of them in my collection.

At Francis Turner’s table I found a bag of Reisler Western figures. I paid $20.00 for the bag. It had Cowboys, Indians and Mexicans. I really like these figures. The poses are filled with action. These figures are 1/32 in scale. They are hard to find.
