The Latest News!! 08/28/2021. Warhorse Miniatures Anglo-Saxon update!!

It has been almost a month since my last post. We continue to tests and develop the early medieval figure sets. Production will start in late October. At this stage we are confident we will have 4 to 6 different sets ready at launch. Above is part of the Anglo-Saxon family set. Things are still in development and a few things can change.

Here is the head of the family. He is scouting the country side looking for any dangers that might lurk in the distance.

Here is the Monarch of the family. She is returning home after gathering some berries.

Here is the eldest Son returning from the village market with some bread.

Here is the Daughter gathering some branches for the fire.

Here is the youngest Son. Is he running around playing or maybe to warn his family about something?

Here is a picture of the family in one of the resins we are currently testing. It is hard to get detailed pictures with my camera with the material. The foam house in the background is by Atherton Scenics.

Here is a test print on one of the houses we have designed. The house properly will be available early next year.

Here are some different resins being tested and some other brands to show size comparison. We will be making colors to match the plastic Conte medieval toy soldiers. The miniatures will also be scaled to be close to the size of the plastic Conte medieval figures and the W. Britain medieval figures.

Here are some of the redesigned figures that we have been developing earlier this year.

We will have a display at the Columbus Toy Soldier Show of the available sets. Plus some of the prototypes. The show will take place on on October 17th. For more information about the show visit this link, http://www.mwtoysoldier.com/Shows.html.

We will have more updates in the coming weeks. This is only a preview of things to come. That is it for now. Thank you for reading.

The Latest News!! 07/09/2021. Warhorse Miniatures 3D figure Preview, Warhansa Medieval Knight Review & More..

Circle your calendar for October 17th for the Columbus Toy Soldier show. At the show I will beginning selling my 3D printed miniatures. We will begin with some Anglo-Saxon figure sets, houses and other accessories. Plus a Viking Raider camp. Today in this post you will see some prototypes of a few figures. Some of these figures will or might be changed. Besides testing out the structural design of the figures we are also testing out different types of resins. Once we figure out what type and/or combination of resins we will start pricing of the figures and accessories. These miniatures are scaled to match Conte & W. Britain figures. They are around 57mm. Some might be a little bigger or smaller. I am labeling these as 1/31 in scale. Since they are not the true 54mm with is 1/32. Later on we will scale these figures and most of the accessories in the true 1/32 or 54mm and then 28mm.

Here is the original color of the resin for these prototypes. I later primed them and painted them a solid brown color to help show the details.

Here is a Saxon Peasant herding some domesticated Boars.

Here is an Saxon hunter with a bow and a rabbit.

Here is a Saxon chopping some wood logs.

Here is a tall Saxon carrying some wheat that he just harvested. This figure is going to be redesigned.

Here is the last porotype that I have to show today. It is another Anglo-Saxon Peasant that is pulling a cart. The cart can be filled with a piece of chopped wood logs or a pile of wheat.

Here are some of the prototypes compared to some Conte plastic and metal figures.

Here are some prototypes with some W. Britain and Conte figures.

Some prototypes with some Warhansa figures.

Here are some prototypes with some Barzso figures.

Here is a digital design for a Saxon house.

Here are some Boars running away or fighting back against random figures.

In the coming weeks we will be showing more previews and prototypes. This is only the beginning . We are on a journey to create a Anglo-Saxon village. There will be different houses, plenty of peasants, craftsmen and warriors. Once we finish the 1st phase we will expand into other themes.

Here is a set of Medieval Knights by Warhansa. Five figures in five different poses. They are made out of a rubbery type of resin. The set is based on some of the old Robin Hood or Ivanhoe Hollywood movies. The figures are nicely detailed and the pose are good too. The are about 57mm tall. You can check out their website over here, https://www.warhansa.com/katalog/medieval_knights.html.

Here are the Knights with other brands.

Here is the Ukrainian Cossacks XVII century set by Kit Soldiers. They are a company from Ukraine. The set is made up of 8 figures in 8 different poses. The material is polyethylene and they are 1/32 in scale. For more information you can check out their FB page, https://www.facebook.com/Kit-Soldiers-104648945096855. You can also contract Alek, https://www.facebook.com/aleks.kot.3532.

I will have more information in the coming weeks about the 3D printed figures. You can also check out my page of this website for the 3D printed figures, Warhorse Miniatures 3D Figures. That is is for now. Thanks for reading.

It has been about a month since my last post. I have been real busy with work and getting ready for the Midwest Toy Soldier Show. I wanted to make a quick post about some new figures and also an update on my figures.

Alexey has been busy revamping his company. I received a bunch of figures from him this week. He started working with some new sculptors and here is some of the results.

In my last post we talked about the limited set of Anglo Saxons miniatures that I am having produced. I received some of the sets this week. Here are some pictures of the final figure cast. Hopefully I will be able to put some sets together for the show. I need more of the 8th figure to complete more sets. Some of these figures are cast without a shield or hand with a spear. This was done for two reasons. The first was to get a nicer cast figure. The second reason was to avoid a spaghetti type spear being cast. After some tests the spearmen will be cast in two different resins. The figure will be cast in a rubbery type resin and the hand with the spear will be cast in a harder resin to avoid the bending of the spear. My vision of this set was to have a Saxon Spear Wall. To avoid any of the spears getting broken during shipping, I am thinking of leaving them unattached from the figure. The collector can use crazy glue to attach the shield and hand with the spear.

Saxons Danes1Saxons Danes2Saxons Danes3Saxons Danes4Saxons Danes5Saxons Danes6Saxons Danes7Saxons Danes8Saxons Danes9

Today I was going through the figures and trimming any flash that I found. I set some of them up to fight a small battle with some Prikaz Danes. I mixed in a few Publius Saxons (blue guys) too.

Playmobil Gauls

The other day I stumbled across these vintage Playmobil Gauls. They are sets 7923 & 7924. They are hard to find and usually are expensive if you do find them. I got lucky to get both of these sets for $20.00.

I wish Playmobil had expanded on this theme. Most Playmobil collectors had to make their own Gauls to fight against the Romans. These figures will be joining Hannibal’s Army…

Don’t forget about the Midwest Toy Soldier Show. It will start in about 25 days. It is one of the best shows around. Plenty of plastic and metal figures. I will be there selling my new miniatures, toys from my own collection, and LOD & Barzso products.

The Latest News!! Anglo-Saxons by Warhorse Miniatures!! Updates on Prikaz, LOD~Barzso, Petite Guerre & Midwest Toy Soldier Show.

Tusken Raiders

While most of you were getting ready to watch the Super Bowl, I was putting together this post. Today we have some updates. The first update will be about Prikaz Toy Soldiers.

Prikaz Logo

Prikaz Toy Soldiers, “ПРИКАЗ” in Russian means “Order” in English. They make resin based miniatures. The owner is Alex Pisarev. I started collecting his medieval sets from the beginning. I have been working with Alex on some projects after we first met. I have been updating the picture catalog of his sets on my website. You can check out that page over here Prikaz Toy Soldiers. Alex is in the process of expanding his business. I should have more information about this in the coming months.

The Rifleman

Last month I received most of the Prikaz Streltsy sets. Today I want to take a closer look at the first and last set that was made from that theme of the Russian riflemen.

The Rifleman2

St-1) Moscow Streltsy #1 – A set of five figures firing standing Streltsy with muskets and swords – $30.

This one figure started it all for Alexey. So when you look at his company this is a key figure to have. The figure is nicely detailed and depicts a Russian rifleman from the 16th to 18th century.

Streltsy regiment of artillery20

St-8) Streltsy regiment of artillery (1 cannon, 8 artillerists) – $100.

Here is the latest set from the Streltsy theme. This Artillery set is really nice. It comes with a huge crew to show off different scenarios of moving, loading and firing. There are also some accessories too.

LOD Barzso

“We are able to start taking pre-orders on four Barzso resin figure sets. The figures have been arriving at LOD headquarters and we will be packaging them up over the next two weeks. The initial four figure sets are all in blue.

They have been loaded into the web store so feel free to take a look. We will be adding more photos of each figure as well. The pirate sets and the Lewis & Clark character figure set are priced at $25 per bag. The Last of the Mohicans character set is limited and available for $75 per set.” ~ Ken Ciak of LOD Enterprises Toy Soldiers.

Here are some pictures of some Barzso figures that I purchased last year. I was told by Ken that the new sets are cast in the same blue color. You can visit the LOD website over here https://lodtoysoldiers.com/.

Next month I will be attending the Midwest Toy Soldier Show. This is one of my favorite shows to attend now. The dealers usually have a great selection of plastic figures from many different companies from all over the world. Besides the plastic figures there are many painted metal miniatures too. This year a new company will be premiering at the show. Which leads me to the next article in this post…

For about the last five years I started thinking about having my own line of Toy Soldiers made. With the help of Alexey Pisarev my dream has come true. Here are some test shots of the miniatures below.

Saxon Fryd with hand axe, Huscarl with Dane axe, Noble with Sword & Fryd with hand axe.

Test Shots9

The last Saxon fyrd sculpt with a spear was just finished.

Test Shots1

3 Saxon Fyrd with Spears.

Next month at the Midwest Toy Soldier Show I will be starting to sell my own line of Toy Soldiers. I am offering a limited run of 50 sets. Each set will have 8 different resin figures. The set depicts Anglo-Saxon warriors. They can be used to fight your battles that took place during the Dark Ages. They were made to be lined together to fight in a shield wall formation.

Test Shot

Most of these warriors are from the Saxon militia or Fyrd. The Fyrd were freemen that would be raised to defend their homes when they were threatened. Most of these men would fight with spears or hand axes. They were usually lightly armored. If they had a helmet they were lucky. Later on the Fyrd would be better organized and better armored.

Test Shots3

Here is a Saxon Noble and Saxon Huscarl.

Test Shots4

Here are two Saxon Fyrd with hand axes.

Test Shots5Test Shots6Test Shots7

Here are three of the Fyrd with spears. The fourth figure was just finished. I will have more pictures in the future.

Test Shots8

On some of the figures the shields are attached. If you have two sets you can have the same figure look a little different by using a different shield. The color will be a burnt Orange.
