The Latest News!! 07/07/2021. Conte Romans & LOD Barzso American Rangers Review. Plus Some Publius Vikings.

Welcome back for another post about toys soldiers. I hope all is well with everyone. As usual I have been real busy with work, eBay and all of my hobbies. No rest for the wicked… Today we will take a look at Conte’s new Romans, LOD Barzso American Rangers, some Publius Vikings.

I recently purchased some of Conte’s new Romans. They come in 3 different colors of Red, Silver & Gold. The are 1/32 in scale or about 57mm if they were standing tall. Each bag has 16 figures. They are packed nicely. Inside the plastic bag the figures are broken down in separate bags. Plus some have plastic supports.

Some of the figures can be customized with different arms. This way you can have some extra poses. Most of the Romans are armed with a Pilum or a Gladius. I am glad that Richard was able to produce these plastic toy soldiers. Because of the cost we see less plastic injected figures being made. I don’t have too many Ancient themed toy soldiers. The ones that I do have are Barbarians or Celtic Warriors. Now I have some Romans to fight them. We should see some future Roman sets down the line.

Right now you can order from the Conte website, 3 sets for $99 with free shipping. Here is the website, https://contecostore.myshopify.com/.

When I was collecting Barzso Playset products one of the sets that I wish I had purchased was the American Rangers. It is a hard set to find at a reasonable price in the secondary market. Now I don’t have to worry about that because Ken at LOD Toys Soldiers has reissued them again. They are cast from the original molds and in the original lime green color or close to it. This is a great set. They are a little bigger than the earlier Colonial sets but blend well with them.

Renamed “Roger’s Rangers 3” this set was originally released in 2010 for the Bushy Run playset. Seven figures in seven poses.

I just checked the link for these figures and noticed that they are now sold out!!! I guess you will have to keep an eye out to see if the get restocked again. Here is the link for the Rangers, https://lodtoysoldiers.com/collections/barzso-figure-sets-resin/products/rogers-rangers-set-3-lod43.

A few months ago I got these Publius Vikings. As usual they are super detailed. They are about 58mm in height not counting the base. The second Viking in the above picture is a little bigger than the others.

The cost of these figures is between $10 to $25 and can be found on eBay. They are cast in a rubbery type of resin.

These figures fit nicely with a bunch of different brands.

I will have some news in a few weeks about the things I am working on. These will be 3D printed. We are testing some new figures and some other things. Thank you for reading. That is it for now.

Toy Soldier Review ~ Biplant Gauls & Rus Warriors.

It has been about a month since my last post. I have been busy with work and was away on vacation. While I was away I did find a few things. I will talk about that in a future post. Today I just wanted to do a quick review of 2 sets that I purchased from the company called Biplant. The sets are of Gauls and Rus Warriors. I did a preview of these sets in a past post, Latest News!! 09-13-2019 ~ Previews of some new releases from Engineer Basevich & Biplant. I purchased these on ebay for $6.50 a set. The first set I will review is of the Gauls.

Here is the set of Gauls. I am very pleased with these set. The poses are nice and so is the sculpting. When I first read about these figures I thought that they would be about 65mm. They are closer to 54mm. They are a little smaller than the Conte Medieval figures. The material that is used is like the Conte figures too, but a little softer. I am planning to use some of these figures as Saxons or Vikings.

These figures blend very well with the Conte Medieval figures. I am planning on trimming some of the weapons and helmets.

Russians

The next set is of Rus Warriors. Again I am very happy with these figures too. Yesterday I watched the trailer to the “Vikings” tv show. The Rus finally arrive. Perfect timing to start a Rus collection of figures. Some of the these figures can be used as Vikings & Saxons or even a Norman.

The figures are a welcome addition to my collection. Some of the poses will stand out in a display. I am planning on purchasing a few more sets of these soon.

Latest News!! 02/23/2019. Vintage Plastic Airfix Italians & More. Hobby News ~ Warhansa, Publius & Runecraft.

Warhorse Miniatures

Greetings everyone. A few weeks ago I received in the mail a package of mainly Airfix figures. I paid $20 for the lot. They had advertised Vintage plastic toy soldiers, Germans, British and others on eBay. They are mostly World War II plastic figures. When I looked at the pictures I noticed that the Germans where mostly Airfix Italian Infantry. These figures are 1/32 in scale.

Airfix Lot

I went through the box and divided the figures into about 10 different groups.

Airfix Lota

Vintage Plastic Figures

Most of the figures were Airfix but some where from other brands.

I have been looking for some more Airfix Italians for a while. I think this set was one of the last World War II 1/32 scaled figure sets that Airfix made.

Vintage Western

Here are some Vintage Western figures that I picked up. I think they are a mixture of Crescent and Cherilea figures.

Zero1

I purchased this used Ultimate Soldier 1/32 Japanese Zero for $25.00. It is missing a couple of pieces I think. I want to add this to a diorama that I plan on making later this year.

I received this W. Britain Collector’s Club Viking figure about 2 months ago. The last picture has a Conte Viking figure that I painted.

Latest News

Rodion Makheav sent me some preview pictures of Warhansa sets. I also found a few more. Most of these sets should be available in by the end of March.

I think these figures are about Conan the Barbarian. Conan was one of my favorite comics to read growing up.

7Ff5XTtiooA

These looks like another Conan inspired set.

This figure appears to be of Lenin.

This figure is of Harald Hardrada the King of Norway form 1046 to 1066. He is part of the 1066 Saga for the Throne of Britain. Harald lived a very interesting and adventurous life. He met his end at the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.

Here are the World War II Russian Infantry again.

Here are some figures from Runecraft Miniatures. I think they are part of Publius. They make some interesting figures in 1/32 scale. I don’t know when these will be available to USA customers.

You can find the Publius Saxons again on eBay. This time they are in blue.

The picture above is a preview of post that I will be doing in the near future. That is it for now.

W. Britain ~ Wrath of the Northmen ~ Fall 2017

Wrath of The Northmen

With the Chicago Toy Soldier Show coming soon, I have been thinking what new things I will try to pick up later this year. At the Chicago show most of the Toy Soldier companies preview or release their new items. One thing that I know for sure is that I will get some of W. Britain “Wrath of the Northmen” figures. The figures in this line seem to get better with each new one released. I was able to get the limited edition figures, they are awesome to say the least. Here are a few pictures of them, 62126 – “Brimir” Viking Attacker – Academy Games Exclusive and 62127 – “Werian” Saxon Defender – Academy Games Exclusive. I took them with a Barzso Cottage.

Toy Soldier Preview ~ W. Britain Wrath of The Northmen Summer 2017

Greetings everyone, it is almost summer time and soon W. Britain will be releasing new figures. Right now I am only collecting figures from the “Wrath of the Northmen” line of figures. I wish I could add some of the other lines to my collection, but due my budget I can only stick to one at this time. Anyway, I would like to share some information that I have gathered through different sources about the new figures that will be released soon. I can’t wait to add these figures to my collection and to see what else is going to come in the range down the line. Their figures keep getting better with each new batch released. So far the Saxons are my favorite, but it these new Vikings are making it harder to choose. W. Britain Wrath of the Northmen

These two figures are so nice, that I ordered the 878 Vikings board game just to get them.

Shield Wall Smaller_resize

This picture of a Viking holding the Raven Banner just came out today on their facebook page, it is supposed to be available in the summer too.

Wrath of The Northmen.jpg

I am curious to see if any scenic pieces will be released this year for this theme. I would like to see some new cottages and maybe some villagers. Well that is a wrap for now, I am gathering some more things for the next installment for my monthly report.

Toy Soldier Review ~ Barzso Duke’s Stronghold

Well I finally got to opening and setting up a little display with the New Barzso building, The Duke’s Stronghold. Let me say, I was a little surprised on how big this tower is. Also I should have know, since it came in two boxes. And as always, this item was packed really well and arrived undamaged. Plus as a nice touch, a personal message on thanking me on the purchase. I never had a problem ordering from Barzso Playsets. Barzso Duke’s Stronghold

This stronghold as pictured above measures about 32 inches tall, 20 inches wide and 16 inches deep. You can purchase this set as pictured above or in parts, like the Stronghold tower, small tower or the base.

One day, I will include this tower in mega display that I am going to create. But that will be many years from now, when I retire and move. Right now I am gathering pieces and sets to add. But between the painting and learning how to build other terrain pieces, It will take me time to finish.

I am glad that Barzso made this set, it is a great stand alone piece or it can be incorporated into their Castle to expand that set.

This tower comes alive when you add some figures to it. Here are some of my Conte, Barzso, Replicants and other figures.

Toy Soldier Review ~ Publius Saxons

I did a preview on these figures a few months ago, and recently got these delivered after I ordered from ebay. They are a welcome addition to my collection, Saxons are not to common compared to the number of Viking figures you can get. The only problem with these figures are the cost, which is more than I like to spend. But as a collector, I had to get these. Hopefully I will be able to paint these sometime before the summer, after I finish painting some of these Conte figures and other Publius Viking figures. But when I do, I will have a post on that. Ok, you can check out the pictures below to see the detail of the figures, they are excellent. Also see how they look with some Conte plastic and metal figures. These are about 1/30 in scale and go for about $49.99.
