Toy Soldier Preview ~ Engineer Basevich Early Slavs

Hi again, here are the latest figures from Engineer Basevich. This set is based on Early Slavs / Russian Warriors of the Kievan Rus. There are 12 poses and the details on these figures are excellent. I like the different action poses and some of these figures can be used as other dark age cultures. A lot of Engineer Basevich’s other sets are based on Russian history . They are about 1/30 in scale, and mix well with Conte, and Barzso or other figures that are 1/30 in scale or around 56mm. I am going to use some of these figures as Saxons and now I’m thinking of doing some type of Slavic display one day too. The Dark Ages is one of my favorite periods of history to research and I hope Engineer Basevitch comes out with more figures.

Toy Soldier Review ~ Publius Saxons

I did a preview on these figures a few months ago, and recently got these delivered after I ordered from ebay. They are a welcome addition to my collection, Saxons are not to common compared to the number of Viking figures you can get. The only problem with these figures are the cost, which is more than I like to spend. But as a collector, I had to get these. Hopefully I will be able to paint these sometime before the summer, after I finish painting some of these Conte figures and other Publius Viking figures. But when I do, I will have a post on that. New Products ~ LOD Barzso Medieval Toy Soldiers

I just saw this today, Great news for Medieval Toy Soldier fans. LOD has acquired the rights of Barzso molds for the Robin Hood’s Merry Men and the Sheriff’s Men toy soldiers. These figures can be used as Saxons and Normans. The archers are some of my favorite poses for plastic medieval figures. You can get these sets now for $22.50, for a pack of 16 figures. New Playmobil Vikings for 2017

Ok, so some of these new items are not really Vikings. But they are close enough to use some of these parts to customize for Viking or Saxons figures. So here are some of the new products this year. Most of the sets are about the Animated Movie series, “How to Train your Dragon” I am going to use some of new hair pieces, helmets, and beards to customize some figures. I am glad to see some of the things that I have been working on, being used now by Playmobil.

The Find ~ Conte CCC21 Saxon Shield Wall

Every once in a while you come across something that you don’t see every day as a collector. A few weeks ago, I found this set and was lucky enough to get it for about $40. This is a rare set, a Collectors Club set. Plus Conte didn’t make to many metal painted Saxon sets. Anyway they go great with my W. Britain Saxons, and now my Shield Wall is bigger 🙂

Toy Soldier Preview ~ Pvblivs Saxons

Well it looks like 2017 will be the a good year for Saxon Medieval collectors, first Britain and now Pvblivs has released something new. You get a set of 6 Saxon figures in some nice action poses. I like the different type of Saxon headgear, some nice helmets and a classic Saxon hat. Plus the different shields and at last a nice looking Seax. The Saxons were famous for fighting with the Seax, a long knife. One figure is fighting with this knife and at least one other figure has the Seax in it’s sheath. My Pvblivs Vikings were starting to feel lonely, glad they released these 6 new figures. You can find them on ebay from a couple of different sellers for about $50.00. These figures are 1/32 in scale. I will take some pictures when I get them to show how the look with other figures. I also finally found a Conte Saxon metal painted set. Looks like 2017 will be a Saxon year.

William Britain Collectors Club

Well I hope everybody is doing well so far for 2017. I have been under the weather for most of it, but am feeling better now. I just got my 2016 Winter Catalog from W. Britain, plus the 2016 Winter Collectors Club magazine(The Standard). They used one of my pictures for an article is this issue of the Standard. It was from the East Coast Toy Soldier show, that I did an article on and took some pictures. Looking for to the next show later in October. I am also looking forward to getting some of the new exclusive figures of 2017, especially 50073C Acwellen the Saxon Warlord. Toy Soldier Preview ~ First Legion Vikings, Third Wave

First Legion is coming out with there 3rd wave of Vikings in January. Some of the next wave of Vikings look like characters from the TV show Vikings!! They are label as Viking Warrior & Leaders.
